Rationale:

This infographic is designed to graphically show the different elements of the sewing machine.
are easy and simple to follow with straight forward sections <parts and function/history/how to/stitches>. This allows the user to easily navigate and interact with the packed information. The graphic style that i have used reflects hand-made/crafty style, with an incorporation of texture (main background), photographic images, and vector drawings. Colour scheme pastel tone is also consistent throughout the sections which reflects a homely and crafty environment that welcomes the user.

As i have mentioned in the introduction section, Sewing machines can be very complicated and time consuming to learn all the individual elements, therefore, i have made an infographic to unpack the layers. Sewing machines have a very long historical development throughout and i have achieved to show these information by visually showing it in a timeline. Stitch section (last section) is personally my favourite section as it engages to the viewer in a more interesting way unfortunately couldn't get that page to link with the other pages.

It is very unfortunate that my files kept on crashing therefore not had much time to go over and develop more. (eg. my very last section of the infographic - couldnt make that page link to all the other sections due to too many layers contained within one movie clip of the page - could not figure out a way to resolve that).

Time line section - Originally i wanted to make it work that when the user presses on the left/right arrow keys it would be able to scroll side to side however could not achieve that with time limit.

If i had to to improve this i would want to apply more interactive elements and clear graphical way to show rather than texts of informations.

_ How to thread the sewing machine

(continued)
- If you hover over each of the top images, it will hover to this section which consists of an image with a brief description

- For this page, i have made this page using photographic images so that it contrasts to the other pages. Rather than all being quite similar, i thought it might be interesting to include both photographic and graphical elements

- This is section shows the four basic stitches on the sewing machines.
if you hover over the red button for each, it will pop up with another box with a brief description of what the type of stitch is used for.

 Scans of my plan

I initially had a few different plans of other themes

1. baking idea
- either cookies/brownies/..etc
i had this idea of where you could drag and drop the ingredients into the mixer bowl
then oven baking..etc

2. Tomato or strawberry home cropping idea
- wasn't sure how i was going to show that but thought it might be interesting

3. What's inside a girl's pouch/purse idea
- no idea how i even came up with that

4. Evolutionary time-line  of sewing machine (what i've decided on) or telephone
- thought that it would be interesting to develop
and i've originally had the sewing machine idea so as the piece of fabric goes through
the machine, the timeline could sewing past..etc

Draft mock up of Home page at this stage. but will need to develop more further and consider what other elements may be suitable to be added. interactions? rollovers? pop-ups? ..etc
